Page 3 - New Year

This is it, this is whole point of the trip. So, does Reykjavik live up to its reputation of putting on one of the best firework shows in the world at New Year..?

Yes! :-D

Taken in exactly the opposite direction of the first photo (and, as you may have noticed, resting nicely on an icy balcony). Fireworks in Reykjavik are set off by hundreds of families all around the city - in fact, there are almost no public firework displays here. And they don't mess around either - all the fireworks were HUGE expensive ones that normally have "Please stand at least 6 miles away" written on the box...

...which of course, they completely ignore and then proceed to set them off in the middle of the road, on cars and against walls (for better acoustics!). Mad.	New Year's Day
